Race information Crazy Clam
Let me start by saying it was not easy getting this race approved. We had to convince a lot of people that this event was going to be safe for all that attend. We have had 7 races during Covid and all have gone well, because everyone followed the rules. When you come to the event, please follow the rules so we can continue to hold events. Please don't hang out in groups,Please wear your masks and stay 6 feet apart. We have had races where someone from the State or Town has showed up to check that we are following the rules. If you are coming to the start line and see that the spots in the chute are filled, just wait a few seconds until there is an open spot and then get in line to start. Bottom line, keep your distance, try not to form groups, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO IS WATCHING.
THOSE OF YOU THAT NEED THOUSANDS OF SPECTATORS CHEERING YOU ON, THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE RACE FOR YOU. THE STATE, THE TOWN , AND USA TRACK AND FIELD WILL NOT ALLOW SPECTATORS
Things have changed with road races due to Covid. This is how this event will work. These are rules we have to follow in order to hold this event. If you feel that you can't follow these rules please stay home.
There is no mass start to the race, the race is an open start from 8am-9:30am. So you can come anytime between those hours and go for your run.
When you get to the starting line, there will be a chute, runners will line up in the chute 6 feet apart and will one by one come to the start line. A volunteer will ask you a couple of covid questions and then you are free to run
You must wear your mask to the starting line. Once you start, you are free to take off your mask. Mask must be put on after the race.
After the run, you will get a medal, water fruit and bag of chips.
USATF rules say you must leave the finish line area, no hanging around. We will have an area if you are waiting for a friend.
This is a big one so please read. The Town and USATF want less handling of food and water. So, some of the water stops will be grab and go.There will be a few water stops that will have volunteers at them. There will be no energy stations on the course. (SORRY) but we would have to mix the Gatorade and that is more hands handling stuff and we were told not to do that, so you will have to bring your own energy drinks or shots.I realize your saying no energy station and I feel for you, but rules are rules and we all must follow them
